2025 Terms and Conditions
The Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage (“the Pilgrimage”) is an annual, educational event held in the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. All leaders and organizers are volunteers for this event and work to
ensure the safety of all participants. By signing this waiver, you acknowledge that there is an inherent
level of risk involved in navigating outdoor terrain and that weather, wildlife, and conditions throughout
the Park are not under the control of the Pilgrimage. Conditions include encountering trees, limbs,
brush, rocks, structures, ropes, barriers, or other man made or naturally occurring obstacles;
encountering unpredictable terrain, such as varying steepness, mud, holes, cliffs, gravel, narrow
trails, and/or lack of trails; and/or negligence of other attendees.
Outdoor activities involve a certain amount of risk and can potentially be hazardous. Encounters with
wildlife are a part of the educational experience, but they can also be unpredictable. It is incumbent
upon you to determine the suitability of each activity in regard to your capability. Risks of the
Pilgrimage include death, paralysis, broken bones, cuts scrapes, and/or damage to gear and clothing.
Depending on the activity, medical assistance may not be immediately available or accessible.
Your acceptance of Liability Waiver indicates that:
- you understand these risks and assume full personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of
those in your guardianship.
-agree that you have assessed the suitability to engage in these activities based on your personal
medical health and agree that in light of the information provided, that you want to participate.
- you hold harmless and release from liability the leaders and organizers for any accident, loss or
damage to property, injury, or illness which might be sustained as a result of participation in
Pilgrimage activities. This includes traveling to and from meeting sites and trailheads.
- you accept the authority of the leaders and organizers to remove a participant from the activity that
they determine is acting in a manner that poses risks to the other participants.
